DARK CHOCOLATE is far better for your good health than

milk chocolate? The cacao bean comes from pods grown

mostly in South America.

Dark chocolate has a higher percentage of cacao. Cacao contains powerful anti-oxidants, flavonoids, vitamins and minerals..
The higher the percentage of cacao in your dark chocolate, the better it is for your health. The more cacao, the less of the other(not so healthy ingredients). 72% and above is healthy dark chocolate.
Milk chocolate has milk solids, a higher concentration of sugar, and is not healthy.
White chocolate gets its flavor primarily from cocoa butter, but lacks much of the other nutrition of cacao.

1. Dark Chocolate has many vitamins and minerals. Among them are, Potassium and Copper, which help prevent strokes      and cardiovascular ailments. Magnesium, which helps to prevent heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

2. Dark chocolate is loaded with anti-oxidants, which do just what the name implies. It eliminates oxidation, thus preventing damage to cells. This slows the visible signs of aging and prevents cancers. This supplement has more of the same.

3. Dark Chocolate contains helpful flavonoids. They help the cells to function better, increasing its ability to use insulin efficiently, thus eliminating insulin resistance, and preventing diabetes.

4. By increasing blood flow, Dark chocolate helps to keep the blood vessels healthy and may prevent arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

5. Dark chocolate increases blood flow to brain as well ,and may have the ability to improve cognitive function, and may prevent strokes.

6. I left the best for last. Dark chocolate contains phenylethylamine. This chemical causes the brain to release endorphins. (The feel good hormone). Therefore increasing your mood, and decreasing stress.

  •    Research shows that milk interferes with the absorption of anti-oxidants. So in addition to supplying more calories, and producing sugar spikes, adding milk to chocolate further decreases the benefits of the limited cacao content.
  • You may have heard that Dark Chocolate contains caffeine. This is true, but in mild quantities. 1.5 ounce serving of dark chocolate contains 1/8 the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee.
  • Remember that Dark chocolate is a concentrated form of a natural food, and should be eaten in moderation. Too much dark chocolate = too many calories, which would offset the other benefits.

To justify your dark chocolate indulgence, balance it by cutting back on other calorie-laden foods, or simply use added fiber to your daily routine.
