Inflammation is an all-round destroyer.

Inflammation is an all-round destroyer.

Are you familiar with what free-radicals are?
How dangerous is body inflammation?
How can you keep a healthy balance?
These an other questions, will be addressed in this article.
Recently I had two simple encounters that caused me to be thinking about the topic of inflammation in the body.

Someone close to me caught a thorn in their finger, and decided to ignore it until a few days later, when it began to hurt. Of course by this time, the inflammation had set in, making it rather tender and more painful to remove. The person was honestly surprised after I had broken the skin with a needle and squeezed the inflammation out, that it was much less painful, and easier to remove the thorn.

And secondly, I was talking to a person, who is suffering from Arthritis, and literally was not aware that arthritis was caused by inflammation. Takes me back to this. Few things just happen. They are usually caused. No invisible ninjas banging on your knee. There is a real reason for the pain and agony.

So I thought that I would do a brief look at the topic of inflammation. This topic is so vast, this medium would only allow for a peek into inflammation and how it affects your HEALTH and WELLNESSRead the rest of this entry

Start where you are. Work towards your NEW NORMAL

Start where you are. Work towards your NEW NORMAL

We are being led to believe that many illnesses which we encounter later in life are normal. We learn from the outside influences to accept them and maintain them until they overcome us.This may be good for others but certainly not for our personal HEALTH AND WELLNESS.

I can guess who watches the programs on television, based on the ads that are run. Talk about target audience?
We network marketers can learn a thing or two from the media and Neilson, and how we are targeted.

If you watch world news, you hear about erectile dysfunction, bladder leakage, AARP supplemental insurance, and Alzheimer’s medication. You know who is watching at this time, and who isn’t. If you believe them you think it is normal and you should just make yourself comfortable in whatever state you find yourself. Plus it is deeply implied that you are not alone. Just join the crowd and work with it. It goes along with the …happy to be alive…. mindset. Read the rest of this entry

Have you ever had one of those light bulb moments when something suddenly occurs to you, that was hiding in plain sight?  I know you have. Everyone does.

Your HEART is depending on you!!

Your HEART is depending on you!!

How about this!!!. You can be the cure for what ails you.

Earlier this morning, I suddenly realized that my heart is just like the motor that runs the computer or a vehicle.

I did a quick run through on my laptop, which is my daily routine. This is how my routine goes.

I have learned how to ignore those whistles on my phone, until I am ready to wake up. You have no idea how that phone whistles, but I usually only hear it when I am not sound asleep.  Texts, Facebook  notifications, emails, everything elicits some kind of audible signal.

If you are wondering “Why don’t I just turn off the phone?”   The answer is; Because I believe that I should always be available if my kids need me.  So while I keep my phone handy, I learned to tune out those sounds when I want to sleep. (A ring would definitely get my attention.)

By the way!!!!!! What does your body need to do, to get your attention? Are you ignoring the cries for help?

Pomegranates are believed to have originated in the region from Iran to the Himalayas in northern India. The fruit has been cultivated since ancient times, throughout the Mediterranean region of Asia, Africa and Europe.

Pomegranates...Fruit of life.

Pomegranates…Fruit of life.

The word pomegranate is derived from middle French, and is means “seeded apple” (pomme  garnete). It has stood the test of time, because of it’s life giving properties. CLICK HERE for additional anti-oxidant support.

The potent fruit is featured in Egyptian mythology and art, and is referenced in the Bible’s old- testament. Its reverence is associated with life and fertility, prosperity, abundance and hope.

It is believed that King Tut and other ancient Egyptians were buried with pomegranates in hopes of a second life.

If you are a Bible scholar, you may recall that when Moses sent his spies to survey “the promised Land” a bounty of pomegranates was all the proof they needed.

Homer’s Odyssey and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet also mentioned the pomegranate.

The fruit has been such an important part of the culture of ancient and middle age civilizations,  that it has been  been incorporated into  wedding ceremonies in countries such as China, Persia and Turkey.

There are probably about twelve known varieties of pomegranates but the tree itself is unique. The only other plant that is closely related is a small tree found only in a small island in Yemen.

Ancient cultures used the pomegranate in a variety of ways. For example, the pomegranate blossom was crushed to make a red dye and the peel was used for dyeing leather.

Because the pomegranate has been around from early civilizations, it has become a part of the culture of many Mediterranean and south European nations. Read the rest of this entry

peas and beansA few days ago, I was talking to someone about my blogging. The question was asked “What are you writing about today?”  On hearing my response, My good friend continued:” Do you ever write about anything positive?”  You know that’s a good friend, who would not hesitate to point out a flaw, even one that bore the potential to be perceived  as critical.

But I was Oh so grateful for the pointer, because once I thought about it, I began to realize that my points of view were bordering on being negative. I ws automatically assuming that it was more crucial to point out what we are doing wrong, that is doing damage to our health.  We can also reverse damage by supplementing with the right nutrients.

It got me to thinking, that I should devote more time to highlighting some of the easy and positive changes we can make to enhance our efforts to attain and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Read the rest of this entry
