PORTION CONTROL FOR WEIGHT LOSS

As many of us endeavor to lose weight at the beginning of this year, we use different methods. Some of us join the gym. Some purchase exercise equipment to use at home. We sign up for various weight loss programs, go to meetings and whatever method we believe will work for us.

I waited to start at the beginning of the year, and in the past few days, I have noticed one glaring fact. One I am sure that with a little more conditioning of my mind will adjust to.
I am a foodie. I love food. Love to cook, bake and I get thrills from preparing meals. So not being able to eat at will is not exactly fun. I take my SKINNY FIBER pills and I am not hungry. I know I have to eat less, I start out with less food, but I feel like I have to leave some back because, to force it would be counter- productive. A HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS 2012

As we toast in the New Year, I am venturing to encourage you make a toast to a HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE in 2012.
What a wonderful time of the year for “New Beginnings”. The year 2011 is as gone as 2000 or 1955 or any of the years that went before it. What is done is done. What is gone is gone. What went right we can cherish. What went wrong we can try to better in the coming year.
All the things that we intended to fix, the ideas that never left the thinking pad, the ones that got started and had a hard time taking off. This is the right time to whip up a new attitude about whatever you believe that you should change for the best. I can’t think of anything better to adopt at the beginning of a NEW YEAR, than a more active approach to FOOD and NUTRITION.
Like the name of my business implies, I am here to encourage you to build your HEALTH first and foremost, and then to build your WEALTH so that you can enjoy life with a renewed vigor.
There are many ways that we can improve the health and performance of our bodies.
Getting enough rest. This is the time that the body goes to work in healing, repairing, and regulating. Without sufficient rest, it compromises everything else that you are trying to do.

Of utter- most importance to maintaining a healthy body is supplying our cells with NUTRITIONAL FOOD.
Before you begin to think to yourself, that I have some nerve telling you to eat well, I want to remind you that the quality of the food is not determined by the amount on the bill at the restaurant. It is not determined by the tastiness or satisfaction of it, or whether you eat it with a gold plated cutlery or plastic ones.
Nutritional food is the kind that contains the nutrients that the body needs to keep it functioning well, allows it to repair and rebuild, and fight off invasive elements.

We could reduce the incidences of many diseases and ailments by simply feeding the body right. One of the endearing benefits of cultivating a new habit of this kind, could be to show a child or two the right ways to nourish their bodies, so that they grow up with better eating habits. Children should not be dealing with the kind of health conditions that many are battling with. They should be taught and guided in a better direction.
It is not possible to get into all the details at this time, but I just wanted to encourage you to include in your mid- night toast, a pledge to yourself, to adopt a healthier attitude toward FOOD AND NUTRITION for the new YEAR. It could make all the difference to the success of the year.

GET IN THE GAME and turn it around.



I pondered on this topic for three or four days. I wanted to be able to get the correct message across without offending anyone. But the reality is this; there are many people out there, who know within themselves that their health is not optimum. Whether you suffer from diabetes, High Blood Pressure, high cholesterol, migraines, or any number of ailments, chances are: that whatever is ailing you is caused by poor eating habits. And chances are that it can be turned around or improved by adjusting your eating habits. Some of us actually think that it is normal and we can’t do anything about it. That is a lie from the pit of hell. And the devil wants to see us destroy our health. That way we are doing his job for him.
Some of us have decided that this is the year we will try to take better care of our bodies. Some of us will start off with a boom. How far we go as the year slides on depends solely on the individual. Continuing on the same path doing the same things we are used to doing will make the situation worse.
The only thing that goes away by ignoring it is time.
Your body is not a dollar bill, which with continued abuse will become deteriorated. When it becomes too worn, it is taken to the mint and shredded and replaced with a brand new one. Your body is not replaceable. It is the only one you have. The sooner you start to take better care, the sooner it will begin to repair itself.
I know there are persons out there who are sitting and thinking to themselves that it is too late.
“I’m already on medication.” “I’m already doing insulin.”
Maybe you are saying, that the doctor says I have to take the medication for the rest of my life, so that means the hypertension can’t be cured.
Someone might be saying. “I am too fat, too much over weight. It does not matter anymore.”
I have actually heard a person say something to the effect of, I am going to eat what I want and live till I die. That is actually giving up without a fight. Are you not worth fighting for? Aren’t your children and grand- children worthy of having you around for those special moments in their lives?
Perhaps you are one of us who just have a little weight to lose, twenty, thirty, maybe forty pounds. And every year you promise yourself. You will start to lose it soon. Every day that you put it off, every month that you put it off, every year that you put it off, you are not only going further in the wrong direction, but making it harder to get motivated to start the journey back to optimum weight and better health.

Let me agree with those of us who know that we need to step up our game when it comes to losing weight and improving our health. I know it is not easy. It has never been and will never be easy to come from a negative position to the place of optimum performance. It requires an extra bit of effort. I included this video as a motivator. In 33 seconds, the outcome of the game was determined. Somewhere in that final minute, someone decided that it was not over till it was over. Perhaps you are not the one this article is intended to motivate. But maybe you know someone who you are reading this for and who is waiting for you to reach out and encourage them. Will you make an effort to make a difference, in your little corner of the world?
If it were not for my children who were both less than ten years old at the time, pleading with me day in and day out; I may still be smoking. God knows where my body would have deteriorated to in the last 19 years. But it took love to jolt me to reality.
The longest journey begins with the first step, and every step brings you one step closer to the destination. There is a lot of power in counting yourself worthy of fighting for. Believe me when I tell you that I care more about people helping themselves than I care about pushing SKINNYM FIBER. But at the same time, it is the help that many of us need. THE TIME IS RIGHT……Be your own #1

The time Is Right Atomic Kitten

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves at a crossroads, where we have to decide if we should turn in another direction, or keep on going the road we were on. We wonder if we have what it takes to change direction. At the beginning of every year, we come to that place of decision. We want to do better in certain areas of our lives, and gather the resolve to tackle the issue. You may know this process as making New Year’s resolutions. Many of them get lost as the months go on. Staying healthy and keeping our bodies in good condition is one of those challenges for many. In the area of weight loss and health improvement, having a team to cheer and support is of immeasurable value.
To feed our cells and organs optimally so that they function the way they should is increasingly a challenge because of several factors. Our busy lifestyles at times, does not allow us to exercise the way we should. For some, daily medications and other chemicals interfere with the process of the elimination of harmful toxins from the body. Preparing healthy meals may appear to be an inconvenience at a glance, but it is not as challenging as it would seem.
Whatever the reason, as we get older it is increasingly more difficult to maintain optimum weight, vitality and bodily functioning. For some it is a few pounds of unwanted fat. For others it is maybe a bit more (fifteen or twenty pounds.) For others the journey may be a longer one to optimum weight because we are further away from the place where we want to be.
A friend of mine always jokes that she loses about 20 pounds each year. Looking at her, one would never guess that she lost 20 pounds, because I have never seen her body weight increase. But she continues; I lose the same five pounds over and over. Consider that if it was left unattended it really would have been an accumulation of 20 pounds. Ignoring the issue of weight control does not make it go away. Good intentions do nothing for the prevention of illnesses and diseases which are caused by overweight. Being overweight is associated with certain conditions for a number of reasons. A body that is fed too much of the wrong food is still malnourished. So food is stored because the body feels deprived and stores what it can for future use. There is another theory that the body creates fat to house an accumulation of toxins in the body to save them from bedding down in the vital organs. (Do a quick research and see what you come up with)
But as the saying goes, the longest journey begins with the first step. Small steps on a regular basis will get you where you want to be. Perhaps you don’t have to lose weight, but you can feel that everything is not quite right. Maybe small adjustments in your nutritional habits will make a difference. Journey to SKINNY in 2012 – “Dare to do it “ PART 1

Every now and again, I am confronted online with a challenge by one weight- loss company or another. A twenty-one day challenge, a sixty day challenge. And every time I see it my brain goes into a tail spin. I wonder if it is a contest between the person and the products you use to see which one will prevail? The fat or the product? Or is the challenge between the various users to see who will lose the most fat?
A challenge brings to mind the idea of a contest that tests one’s skill or strength in a particular area. In some places it is described as a call to battle.
Alternatively, I prefer to think of a person’s decision to lose weight as a “dare”. One’s decision to demonstrate that they have the courage or boldness to get the job done.
Losing weight has never been considered an easy task. The transformation has to start in the mind of the person. Until one’s mind is made up that this is what they want to do, no amount of external influences will get the job done. Yes, I said job and I said task previously, because that is what it is. If there is someone out there who has succeeded in intentionally losing weight without putting out a great deal of effort, I invite you to share your experience with others who may benefit from it. Who knows I may be missing a few details along the way.
The simple truth is that for the most part and under normal circumstances, weight gain is a result of consuming more calories than the body uses. The excess is therefore put into storage for later use (fat cells). It is a rather simple mathematical equation. Opposingly, for the most part, and again under normal circumstances, weight loss is the reverse… Consuming fewer calories than the body needs to use at a given point in time, so that the body goes into storage (fat cells) to make up the shortfall.
Some methods of weight loss require more effort than others. Whether one puts the emphasis on exercising more, or eating less, the need is created to use stored fat. Obviously a combination of both should prove to be even more efficient. In today’s environment many methods and products have been researched and developed to stimulate the brain, manipulate the metabolism, engorge the muscles to work harder, and various other enhancements to the process.
Many people who went on diet programs by eating less became nutrient deprived and could not keep it up for any length of time. Others took the exercise route and for various reasons fell short of their goals. I am one of those individuals who get physically sick when I get hungry, so I know what it feels like. For as long as I live I will remember trying to convince my body that it was going to comply with what my brain decided was a program that would surely get the job done. (I believe it was the cabbage soup diet at that time in the early 1980’s.) My body became so traumatized that I ended up pulling off the road to eat an apple, which I carried around just in case I needed it. The irony is that at the time, I was at a weight and size that I would give anything to be at again. (I guess the idea of closing the stable before the horse got out didn’t quite work.) If I started to name the diet programs and adjustments in eating that I have voluntarily encountered, I would have to write a three part series for this article. Being “diagnosed” with hypertension and being put on a regimen of dangerous chemicals, didn’t help either. Maybe I was the culprit in not carrying out the instructions as given. But that’s another story for another place and time.
