What are PUMPKINS really good for?

It’s Halloween!!!!

The nutritional value of pumpkins

The nutritional value of pumpkins

Time for pumpkins, lanterns, candy, candy, spiders and spider webs, haunted houses and candy, candy and ghosts, haunted houses and goblins. Scarecrows and more candy!!!! Whewwwwww.

Some things amaze me about Halloween.

  • People go out of their way to create something which is intended to scare people.
  • People. Ironically, are more amused than scared.
  • Goblins, ghosts and witches all of a sudden come out in the daytime.
  • People buy candy to give as gifts to kids who can’t eat it, because they can’t trust people who give them candy.
  • So the only one who benefits are the people selling the candy.

And this activity is so powerful, that adults hesitate to say no to children, even when they don’t believe in it themselves.

The tradition now is for churches and parents who want to dissuade children from taking part in Halloween related events, and “trick or treating” to provide a substitute activity. I never got the wisdom in that. It goes in the same category of electronic cigarettes. “The real thing is bad, but we can still do it in a different way.” We know we are still inhaling chemicals, but at least there is no smoke to offend anyone.  “And then we tell children to “Just say no” Is there something wrong with saying “no” without a “BUT”.

The French Journalist and Novelist Jean-Baptiste Alphonse is credited with the quote. “The more things change the more they remain the same.”

TIMES ARE DEFINITELY CHANGING

The language of technology.

The language of technology.

I thought about this recently and found myself asking myself.   “really?” Would he have felt the same, if he had lived one hundred years later, and encountered the world of technology, computers, and digital communication?

This is an  expose’ of me and the new digital age. Hope it makes you smile.

I recently had my first experience of learning the simple rudiments of pointing a domain name to a company server. It got me to thinking.
Once upon a time, I thought that pointing automatically involved an index finger.  I guess the basic action is the same as in showing one the way to go to reach a particular destination, but index fingers are not exclusive in this action, in the world of technology, unless you are a one finger typer.

So I pondered some of the new lingo,  that once meant something completely different to me, and how my aged brain has to reset itself to think in this digital age. Having been very much bred in a completely different time and space, the tendency to reflect is somewhat automatic even though at a subconscious level.

The world is moving on. If you want to keeppace, Click here. and then HERE

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU LET IN YOUR BRAIN

Start where you are. Work towards your NEW NORMAL

Start where you are. Work towards your NEW NORMAL

We are being led to believe that many illnesses which we encounter later in life are normal. We learn from the outside influences to accept them and maintain them until they overcome us.This may be good for others but certainly not for our personal HEALTH AND WELLNESS.

I can guess who watches the programs on television, based on the ads that are run. Talk about target audience?
We network marketers can learn a thing or two from the media and Neilson, and how we are targeted.

If you watch world news, you hear about erectile dysfunction, bladder leakage, AARP supplemental insurance, and Alzheimer’s medication. You know who is watching at this time, and who isn’t. If you believe them you think it is normal and you should just make yourself comfortable in whatever state you find yourself. Plus it is deeply implied that you are not alone. Just join the crowd and work with it. It goes along with the …happy to be alive…. mindset. Read the rest of this entry

YOUR “HEART HEALTH”

0

WOW!!!!

Have you ever had one of those light bulb moments when something suddenly occurs to you, that was hiding in plain sight?  I know you have. Everyone does.

Your HEART is depending on you!!

Your HEART is depending on you!!

How about this!!!. You can be the cure for what ails you.

Earlier this morning, I suddenly realized that my heart is just like the motor that runs the computer or a vehicle.

I did a quick run through on my laptop, which is my daily routine. This is how my routine goes.

I have learned how to ignore those whistles on my phone, until I am ready to wake up. You have no idea how that phone whistles, but I usually only hear it when I am not sound asleep.  Texts, Facebook  notifications, emails, everything elicits some kind of audible signal.

If you are wondering “Why don’t I just turn off the phone?”   The answer is; Because I believe that I should always be available if my kids need me.  So while I keep my phone handy, I learned to tune out those sounds when I want to sleep. (A ring would definitely get my attention.)

By the way!!!!!! What does your body need to do, to get your attention? Are you ignoring the cries for help?

ARE YOU MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICES FOR YOUR “HEART HEALTH”?  Listen to this video.

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR BODY?

0

HERE ARE A FEW FACTS, (mostly estimations, because they can vary), that you may not have thought of.

BONES

Your thigh is longer than your leg. That is because the Femur (thigh bone) is about 19 inches long in the average adult.  And the femur (leg bone) is about 16 inches long. These are the longest bones in the human body.

The smallest bone in the human body is one of the 3 bones in the middle ear (called the stirrup) It is part of the system that takes sound waves to the brain, and is less than 1/10 of an inch long.
